About Our Staff

Gerry and Mary Thompson-Gerry and Mary purchased a quilt shop in July 2011 and are continuing to grow the store in many respects.

Mary, a Cloquet gal, is a graduate of St. Scholastica and holds a degree in consumer home economics education. So, fabric and sewing are her "thing." Gerry, who grew up in Carlton, is also hired by Nelson Funeral Care and is a landlady, a craftsman, and a male figure in the choice of fabrics for the shop.

Abby-Do Radarsnickers Thompson

Abby-do to her colleagues, our black lab, is the name of "Quilted Dog" and has often been seen greeting clients with a friendly "woof."

Regretfully, Abby-do was put down on Christmas morning in 2012 due to a very big tumor expanding quickly on her spine.

I've always been told that God takes unique individuals at unique moments, and the same goes for animals. There is no better time for us to offer our most valuable pet to God than on Christmas Day.

Rest in peace, Miss Abby, and go and discover your Grandpa McIntire and Ree-Dog. They're going to understand where God keeps the ice cream. We're always going to love you.

Mazzee Mae of the Milky Way Thompson

Our house was way too quiet without Miss Abby, so Mazzee Mae arrived 4 weeks later.

She's so funny, and she's growing fast. She does not run as free as Abby-do but she will as soon as puppy training and obedience training kicks in - it might be a few years. 

She does make guest appearances but often on a leash. She loves company and will share treats with other puppies, but the cats will have to fight for themselves.

Linda Suer

Linda is our longest-serving employee and is married to Jim, our carpenter. They have two grown kids and three grandchildren.

Linda is our “creative” director and comes up with terrific ways to use our fabrics, along with continually making samples for the store.
